A native Shanghai, Yuan-Qing Yu has won numerous competitions, including Menuhin and Jacques Thaibaud International competitions. While serving as the assistant concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Yuan-Qing remains active both as a soloist and as an educator. Yu teaches violin privately and as a professor at Northwestern University. She has appeared as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra,the radio France Philharmonic and London City Orchestra. She has performed in recitals on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series. In addition she has performed with Daniel Barenboim, Pinchas Zuckerman and Yo-Yo Ma in various concerts. As a founding member of Sebastian Quartet, Yu has appeared on WFMT’s Live from Studio One and Ravinia’s Rising Stars Series. Yuan-Qing’s engagements for this year include solo concerts with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, chamber music concerts throughout the Chicago area and a live performance on WFMT.
